Minneapolis es una ciudad del norte de Estados Unidos, en el estado de Minnesota, no muy lejos de la frontera con Canadá. Es una ciudad de lagos y de inviernos largos, conocida también por acoger a una de las comunidades somalíes más grandes del país. En el centro, junto a un parque llamado Loring Park, se levanta una torre de apartamentos: Shoreline Plaza. Cientos de personas viven allí. Es de esos edificios donde uno se cruza con los vecinos en el ascensor, donde los empleados de la recepción saludan por el nombre.Minneapolis is a city in the northern United States, in the state of Minnesota, not far from the Canadian border. It is a city of lakes and long winters, known too for being home to one of the largest Somali communities in the country. Downtown, next to a park called Loring Park, stands an apartment tower: Shoreline Plaza. Hundreds of people live there. It is the kind of building where you run into neighbors in the elevator, where the front-desk staff greet you by name.

Officers ran up the stairs toward the gunfire, moved through smoke that barely let them see, and two of them were shot. They were brave; no one disputes that. The madness continues, fed by the absence of action and the irresponsibility of leaders who would rather look away. After every massacre come the social media posts, the prayers, the thanks to police. And then, nothing.

Muse y Dale no murieron en una guerra, ni en una calle peligrosa, ni en el lugar equivocado. Murieron en el pasillo de su casa, frente a la puerta de al lado. Si eso puede pasar allí, puede pasar en cualquier parte. They died in the hallway of their own home, in front of the door next door. If that can happen there, it can happen anywhere. That is the truth no official speech wants to say out loud.
